Moving gas cylinders

Warning: Dropping a cylinder or striking it against other objects may damage or destroy the cylinder valve, turning the tank into a projectile with 100 times the thrust/weight ratio of the space shuttle. You are likely to be killed if this happens.

Procedure
  1. Prior to moving cylinder, refer to the MSDS for gas being transported for information regarding proper handling techniques and toxicity.
  2. Close the valve on the cylinder.
  3. Remove the regulator and attach a valve cap to the cylinder.
  4. Secure cylinder to cylinder cart or dolly and move to destination.
  5. At the destination, remove the cylinder from the cart and strap the cylinder to a rack or support bracket before use.
